‘I am a passionate violin maker and completed my journeyman’s exam in 2018, followed by my master’s exam in 2020 at the Fachschule für Musikinstrumentenbau in Hallstatt. Through internships in Mexico and Austria, I gained valuable experience in both the restoration and construction of string instruments.
I feel a deep connection to the fine-grained spruce tops from the ‘Totes Gebirge’ in the ‘Salzkammergut’, which possess wonderful tonal qualities and are the preferred choice for my instruments.
I have already built several instruments modeled after great masters such as Stradivari, Guarneri del Gesù, and Jacob Stainer, and am currently working on my own models for violins and violoncelli.
A particular specialty of my workshop is the construction of 5-string violoncelli, which can be ordered with either a low F string or high E string’. (Rene Schmidt)
