Very fine copy (probably German and maker unknown) from roughly the middle of the 19th Century of a David Techler (Tecchler) or Michael Platner violin made in Rome ca. 1703. The violin’s dimensions and arching show this, as does its corpus length of 36.5 cm. Beautiful antique varnish and lovely rosewood fittings with with special harp-style compensated tailpiece from Switzerland which improves a violin’s sound. Titanium fine tuner on the E string — one of the best on the market because of its quality and ultra-light weight. This violin is a pleasure to play with great response and colouristic possibilities. Ideal for chamber music and well as orchestral work. Impressive one-piece back.
