A violin business is no ordinary business. Impossible to put in a few paragraphs the complexities of such a ‘world’, because it is more than a business, it is a Universe in itself. Each sale has its own complexities and each violin has its own history and its own mystery, its own destiny and its own unknown future and now their destiny is to be together in this violin shop in Vienna. Nothing makes me happier than to know that they will end up with someone who will love them as much as we do and who will put even more life into them.
Every player who played on them, left a part of his soul there, and it is a privilege to witness during transactions how nothing disappears, all is carried on. An old woman whose violin we sold was so happy to hear that a 9 year old girl from Singapore (prize-winner at international violin competitions) has bought her violin … she told us she was a great player but that she was forced to stop playing at the age of 9 due to a disease of the bones she developed. Another old woman, a dancer, sold her violin through us and she was thrilled to hear that her violin went to Izmir, a place she had a special connection with through her life and art. And I can continue with such examples. These are artists who put their soul into their art and life (they are one and the same after all).
These stories have been an endless source of inspiration for me, for the real richness is not in the immediate gain, but in the fact that whatever one does with passion and without ego is immortal and it will make a difference in the world, whether we are aware of it or not.
